THE COME UP

A TWO-DECADE
JOURNEY.

Twenty years. One vision. New name.

THE JOURNEY

Over the past 20 years, our restaurant’s journey has been filled with both incredible highs and unfortunate lows. Many of you have seen us at our peak: featured on renowned shows like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Man v. Food, and the Travel Channel. We’ve experienced remarkable growth, from a trailer the size of a bathroom, to expanding to four units, only to face the challenges that brought us back down to a single location. This path has been long and, at times, difficult, but it is one I am deeply proud of. Each step has provided invaluable lessons. If given the chance, would we have done things differently? Perhaps. Would it have changed where we are today? Maybe. Regardless, what matters is that we are still here, continuing our story.

BEHIND
THE NAME

One of the biggest questions we face today is about our recent name change. The truth is, this was a tough decision made during a particularly challenging time last year. At one point, it seemed as though we were on the brink of closing our doors for good. Yet, in what I know to be God’s timing, a new incredible family entered our lives. They believed not only in what we had built, but also in what our restaurant could become. Their support gave hope and a new lease on life. While the name had to be changed because of business reasons, the heart, the journey, and the voice behind the restaurant remain the same. This is still my passion, still my heart, still my vision from the days at the trailer. Just a new name, which I came up with, and you will see why soon.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

I want to thank God, whose timing has always guided us. I am grateful to my family for standing by me through this wild ride. To my partners and coworkers, from the early Sugar Shack BBQ days with the trailer at UT to the SLAB days, you remain true friends and vital parts of this story. Most importantly, thank you to all of you, our loyal guests, for sticking with us through thick and thin. I am determined to make you proud and look forward to welcoming you back to our restaurant. Expect new items and new flavors coming soon, and a potential partnership with another iconic Austin brand.

COME AND GET IT

From day one, my vision was to create an experience: a place where you could forget the pressures of a long day at work, relax after a stressful day or week, or simply enjoy a moment out with good food, good music, and good company. Our mission has always been to deliver the best possible experience to every guest. That being said, now more than ever, we local restaurants need your support. Restaurants thrive on the energy and joy our guests bring. These are different times for everyone, but as local restaurateurs, our pride and passion remain strong. We truly enjoy seeing your smiling faces, serving you delicious food, and expressing our gratitude as you leave. I recall that iconic movie scene where someone rings the dinner bell. So let me end with a simple invitation: “Come and get it.”

Sincerely,
